“Colab Draw - Onye Ozuzu (modern-afro dancer & choreographer)” 2008
Paint, White cloth suits, We’re duct taped together and dip our hands and feet in paint as we do improv movement on a canvas that’s laying on the fooor.
In the Colab Draw series, a collaborator chooses a medium/action/costume/etc. Utilizing this choice, we grasp the medium of choice together with one hand. In this way we make the marks together. With our free hands we hold a video camera together, insinuating the importance of the live action over the resulting object. A second video camera documents the scene from a third person perspective. The two videos are displayed side by side.
